Valley City State enters the game this Saturday at Lyle Hare Stadium as a very explosive offensive team leading the Dakota Athletic Conference in average yards per play.  Strong armed senior quarterback Jason Beilke (6’6” 255lbs) has some key skill players that can get down the field in a hurry making them a threat to score on every play.  “We have defended the same kids in their offense for the past three years and you have to be ready to run because they will consistently make 30 yard plays” said Head Coach John Scott.

Offensively the Vikings are led by senior wide receiver Chauncey Calhoun who is leading the conference in receiving yards to go along with a three-years starting quarterback in Beilke.  “They really do a nice job at getting you to scramble defensively” added Coach Scott.  Defensively the Vikings have really improved as a pressure defense.  They will blitz from the inside and off the edges to keep you guessing.  Senior Chauncey Calhoun who also plays in the Vikings defensive backfield is leading the Dakota Athletic Conference in interceptions as well.

The key for the Yellow Jackets this Saturday is to be patient with the running game and develop a good combination of run and pass.  Defensively the Yellow Jackets will look to slow down the high potent offense of the Vikings by taking away the big play.  “On special teams their same guys that make the plays on offense are making plays in their return game.  We have to be disciplined in our schemes” said Coach Scott.

The Yellow Jackets will kick off this Saturday against the Vikings at 1 PM in Lyle Hare Stadium.  If you are unable to attend please view the game live at www.bhus.edu/athletics through pay per view.
