BHSU entered the game on Saturday fresh off their win the night before over Jamestown College.  Valley City State University came into the match losing to South Dakota Mines the night before.  “This is a big game for us so we can continue the momentum in the Dakota Athletic Conference” said Head Coach Jhett Albers.

The Lady Yellow Jackets jumped out to take game one 25-17 and game two 25-16 behind strong play at the net from sophomore Maggie O’Neill and junior Kristin Engle.  In the third game Valley City State jumped out on the Yellow Jackets early and never looked back as they won game three 18-25.  The Lady Yellow Jackets bounced back to take control of the match in game four eventually winning 25-22 taking the match 3-1.

“We struggled in game three but it was a good sign for us to close out the match in game four” added Coach Albers.  The Lady Yellow Jackets were led by Kristin Engle with 17 kills followed by Maggie O’Neill with 16 kills.  Junior Mandy Brumfield had 41 assists.

Saturday was parent’s day where the athletes of the Lady Yellow Jacket Volleyball Team honored their parents before the game.  BHSU will now hit the road again this week as they travel to Mayville State and Dakota State.  Please check the schedule for game times.  Remember you can see both games live on the home team’s athletic website through pay per view.
