Tanner Adler has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Black Hills State University beginning in the fall of 2009 as a freshman.
Tanner has been a three sport athlete at Lead/Deadwood High School in football, basketball, and track & field. As a standout on the basketball floor as a sophomore and junior Adler was named All-Black Hills Conference, and this past season was named to the All-State Team. Adler averaged 22 points and 11 rebounds per game as a junior where he earned a spot this past summer on the South Dakota Heat AAU basketball club. He will now enter his senior year looking to help Lead/Deadwood advance to the next level. On top of being a standout athlete Tanner has really excelled in the classroom.
“Since he was a freshman, we knew he had a lot of ability. He had some injuries he battled through. Tanner has worked real hard since he was a freshman and to have him go to a program (BHSU) at that level is very satisfying” said Lead/Deadwood Head Coach Curt Shaw.
Yellow Jacket Head Coach Paul Sather had this to say about Tanner, “We got to know Tanner a few years back through camps and him being close to Spearfish. He is an outstanding student, human being, and player that will fit immediately into our family. Tanner is a very versatile player that can play many positions for us and we are really excited to have the opportunity to coach him for the next four years.”
Adler is the first to sign for the 2009-2010 season. Please see links below for more information on Tanner Adler signing to play basketball for the Yellow Jackets.
