Black Hills State University will host a gathering Sunday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. at the Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center to announce plans for the Yellow Jacket’s football playoff game in this season’s NAIA Football Championship Series. The announcement concerning the opponent and site for the playoff game is expected to come around 11:30 a.m.

BHSU submitted a bid to host the first round playoff game. According to the NAIA, the top 16 nationally ranked teams are allowed to submit a bid to host the first round playoff game. Currently, the Yellow Jackets are ranked No. 12. The NAIA will award the eight highest ranked teams that have placed the minimum bid for the first round a home game. The minimum bid amount for the NAIA is based on the expenses that are incurred during the event. Ticket sales, concessions, radio rights and other revenues generated by the host institution during the playoff event pay for those expenses. Any proceeds made after the minimum bid amount has been met will go to the host institution.

“Black Hills State University and the athletic department are very proud of the accomplishments of the 2006 Yellow Jacket football team,” said Jhett Albers, BHSU athletic director. “We are excited about the potential to host the first round of the playoffs. I would like to extend an invitation to those in the community to join us on Sunday in the Young Center for the announcement of our opponent. All ticket information will be announced at that time.”

The Yellow Jackets defeated Minot State last week to finish a perfect conference season at 7-0 and an overall season record of 7-2.
