Ryan Gatch, linebackers coach and special teams coordinator this past season, announced to Athletic Director Jhett Albers and Head Coach John Scott that he had accepted a coaching position at Northern State University effective July 1st.

Gatch will assume the duties of defensive line coach for the Wolves a Division II team in the Northern Sun Conference. Gatch had been with the Yellow Jackets for one season and helped the defense earn the #1 ranking in the Dakota Athletic Conference.

“Ryan did a great job for us this past season and felt this opportunity to move into the NCAA II ranks was a professional growth opportunity that he couldn’t pass on at this stage in his career. Our intent is to have a coach on board by mid July.  I feel we have a lot to offer here and will have a strong pool of candidates. Our criteria will be the same as finding a player. We will need an energy and effort guy who sees BHSU as a good fit and that can help continue the success we have had to this point” said Coach Scott.
