All Regental institutions in South Dakota will be administering the CAAP Proficiency Exam in November. Be sure to check your email for a notice that it is your semester to test. That email also includes a link to acknowledge your attendance and receive your official test date and time.
The proficiency testing is mandatory at all six SouthDakota public universities. If you do not take the proficiency exam, you will not be allowed to register at any of the six institutions for two academic terms! All students must satisfactorily complete and pass all four sections. If you are a SD Opportunity Scholar, you must pass the CAAP exam on your first attempt, or you will lose your scholarship. If you have taken and passed the exam at another institution within the past three years, your scores will be accepted by BHSU if they meet the Board of Regents Policy.
Students who do not pass one or more sections have two opportunities to retest. A FAQ describing the proficiency process and sample questions for the proficiency exams can be found at the following website: http://www.bhsu.edu/StudentLife/Learning/TestingServices/RisingJuniorExam/tabid/1477/Default.aspx
We will also offer Help Sessions in preparation for the test. The information islisted below and on the following website: http://www.bhsu.edu/StudentLife/Learning/TestingServices/RisingJuniorExam/TestSchedule/tabid/1478/Default.aspx
