| The 41th annual BHSU
athletic fund drive sponsored by the Green and Gold Club
begins Tuesday, April 25 and continues through Thursday,
May 11. The Green and Gold Club spring fund raiser is
the driving force for athletic scholarship funds at Black
Hills State University. Last year they raised
approximately $168,000. The club's goal this year is to
up the ante to $211,000.
The kickoff lunch will be held Tuesday, April 25 in
the hall of fame room at the Young Center. Guest speakers
include BH athletes Shana Moffett, Lisa Bomengen, Brant
Miller, Melissa Braegger, and Burke Binning.
Funds from the drive will be awarded to athletes
participating in the 2000-2001 athletic season. Steve
Meeker, institutional advancement director at BHSU, and
his staff are organizing the drive.
Meeker said this year, in addition to the traditional
fund drive of acquiring pledges from individuals and
businesses, the organization is once again seeking
sponsorships to help reach the goal.
Sponsorships provide businesses an opportunity to
display a banner at Lyle Hare Stadium (football) and at
the Young Center (basketball) at all regular home games.
Sponsors receive a public address announcement at all
home regular season games and tickets to athletic events
at BHSU. Sponsors will also be listed on the back of all
game programs.
The success of the fund drive is the result of the
dedication and hard work of many volunteers, says

"It's not only an opportunity for businesses or
corporations to support the university's athletic
program, but it offers them something in return in the
form of advertising."
