1. Committee Structure and process- Dr. Farrokhi
addresssed the council and stated that he felt there was
no written policy in place defining the role and process
of graduate committees. In a recent series of events
involving his role in such a committee, he had identified
what he believed are problems. Those problems were 1. the
role and the selection of the chair, 2. The role of the
outside committee member, and 3. what to do if there was
an impasse among the committee members. After some
discussion about

hese three issues, the
council agreed that there was a need for some formal
guideslines. The members agreed that they would write
some suggestions and forward them to the chair or bring
them to the next meeting. Dr. Farrokhi was also asked to
submit his ideas. 2. Revised MSCI- Dr. Molseed
reported that the College of Education had been working
on the effort to improve the program by adopting the
cohort concept. This summer the MSCI will be offered by
the cohort grouping. A cohort of 15 is needed to make the
project viable. The council approved the concept.
3. Graduating MS students- the director reported that
about 16 students will graduating in May which is one of
the largest groups ever.
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 18 at
3:30 p.m. in Jonas 306.
