Professors present at SDAHPERD conference - Top
Several professors made presentations at the annual
convention of The South Dakota Association of Health, Physical
Education, Recreation, and Dance held in Spearfish recently.
Dr. Betsy Silva, Dr. Larry Tentinger, Dr. Carol Smith, and Dr.
James Hesson presented "Lions and Beavers and Dogs - Oh My!
(and Otters too)." The presentation was based on a
personality inventory developed by Gary Smalley and John Trent.
Each presenter explained: 1) How their personality influences
their teaching style, 2) How students of different personalities
are likely to respond to their teaching style, and 3) How we can
reduce conflict, increase cooperation, and become better teachers
by understanding how we are different.
Hesson and Tentinger also made a presentation titled "How
to become a Certified Strength Instructor."
