BHSU Runner The Youngest Competitor At The 2006 Twin Cities Marathon

Brandon Bertram, a Black Hills State cross country and track student-athlete finished 34th out of nearly 10,500 competitors.
Bertram, and a 22 year-old senior racing in his third marathon, was also the first South Dakotan and broke the school record held by Black Hills State distance running great Dennis Newell. Bertram’s time of 2:32.09 qualified him for the NAIA National Track and Field Championships in Fresno, Calif. On May 26, he will be competing for All-American status at the national meet.
Former Yellow Jacket Nikki Underwood was the youngest female finisher at the age of 22 in the Chicago Marathon in 2003.
