Lady Yellow Jackets pick up two wins, tied for first in DAC!

The Lady Yellow Jackets entered this past weekend with revenge on their mind from three weeks ago.  On Friday the Yellow Jackets battled Mayville back and forth for the first ten minutes.  The Lady Jackets went on a run the final ten minutes to close the first half 37-28. In the second half the Lady Comets tried to come back but BHSU proved to be too much behind hot shooting from the perimeter.  The Lady Yellow Jackets shot 47% from three in the game.  The final score was 76-66. The Lady Jackets were led by five girls in double figures.  Senior Snjezana Dojcinovic led the way 14 points and eight rebounds. Senior Lacey Haughian had 13 points and seven rebounds.  Sophomore Brittney Furhman chipped in 11 points.  Senior Lindsey Buthe and junior Alexis Krull each added 10 points.

On Saturday the Lady Jackets took on Dakota State who was sitting at the top of the DAC Conference.  Both teams battled back and forth throughout the entire game.  The Lady Jackets would make a run to get ahead but the Lady Trojans would come right back.  The yellow Jackets led at halftime 31-29 which would prove to be enough as both teams scored 31 points in the second half.  Dakota State got a chance at the end of the game to tie or go for the win but a turnover secured the victory for the Lady Jackets taking the game 62-60.  Black Hills State was led by Lacey Haughian with 14 points. Lindsey Buthe and freshman Katelynn Lamb each added 10 points.  Snjezana Dojcinovic had eight points and nine rebounds on the evening.  With the win the Lady Yellow Jackets are in a three-way tie for first place in the DAC.

The 20-5 Lady Yellow Jackets will travel this weekend to Valley City State University and Jamestown College.  They will return home next Wednesday, February 20th as they host rival South Dakota School of Mines.
