The lady Yellow Jackets return three starters from last years ball team that went 17-13 along with some quality returnees and new faces. There is no question that the team has some talented returnees. The key for this year’s team is consistency of play, playing at a high level, and doing the little things correctly all the time. The team has as talented of a frontcourt at this level in the nation in Lacey Haughian and Snjezana Dojcinovic. The team will lean on them this year for scoring and rebounding. “We lose quality scoring and leadership in former players’ all-American Brittney Klipfel and all conference player Jaime Bentley but feel very confident in the players we have coming back to do a great job.”
“Lacey Haughian and Snjezana Dojcinovic will really have to raise their game. We feel very strongly about their ability to do so. Our backcourt is fairly young and inexperienced. This will be another factor in our success. We need our young players to play at a high level,” exclaims Coach Nore.
Local talent and floor general Lex Krull is back after a knee injury that happened post season last year. “She has worked extremely hard in the off-season rehabbing and has made an amazing recovery. A lot of weight will be on her shoulders to help some of the new girls along with their game. We feel very confident in her ability to do just that,” Nore says.
Coach Nore goes on to explain, “We enter the season with shielded optimism. We know we have the ability to be pretty good. The problem with that is our league is extremely good. We have one of the top conferences in the Nation, top to bottom. The DAC has so much parody and the team’s that win are the teams that do the little things. One play in this league could be the difference in finishing first down to eighth. We feel we have the tools to be successful. We need to have consistent leadership; consistency in play and our young kids will have to step up and be ready. We are very excited for the season to begin.”
