Minneapolis, Minn. – The Black Hills State University cross country teams traveled to Minneapolis, Minn. to compete at the Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday. The men’s team placed ninth in its division with 262 points and the women’s team placed 11th with 309 points.
On the men’s side, junior Jed Morgan was the top finisher for Black Hills State. Morgan completed the course in 26:49 placing him 34th. Senior KC Fiedler posted a time of 27:04 and freshman Mitch Kraft crossed the finish line in a time of 27:06 placing them 43rd and 45th, respectively.
Sophomore Abi Bever placed 42nd in a time of 24:01 and was the first Yellow Jacket to cross the finish line. Junior Leigh Anne Whiteside and freshman Brooke Wells placed 47th and 48th overall with times of 24:05 and 24:07, respectively.
“Both teams had good races today,” said head coach Scott Walkinshaw. “The men and women both did well and I liked what I saw on the course with where we are at with our training. If we continue to improve, I think that we will have a successful season.”
The Black Hills State cross country teams will return to the course on October 9 for the Briar Cliff College Invitational in McCook Lake, S.D.
