Volleyball Comes Up Short In California

Azusa, Calif. – The Black Hills State University volleyball team lost two matches Saturday at the Cougar Classic in California, dropping the team’s record to 0-5.

Black Hills State fell in the first match of the day to The Master’s 3-0.  The Yellow Jackets lost each set by a score of 25-17.  Sophomore outside hitter Kylee Lamb led the team with six kills and four block assists.  Senior Maggie O’Neill and Kalin Engle along with redshirt freshman Amy O’Neill each had four kills.

The Yellow Jackets were defeated by No. 6 Biola in the day’s second match.  Biola knocked off Black Hills State 3-0 with scores of 25-22, 25-17 and 25-10.  Maggie O’Neill had 11 kills and a hitting pct. Of .375 for the match.

Black Hills State will now travel to Orange City, Iowa for the Red Raider Classic on Aug. 27-28.  The Yellow Jackets will start the tournament against Lee on Fri., Aug. 27, at 2:30 p.m. CT followed by a match against Oklahoma Baptist at 8:30 p.m. CT.  Black Hills State will face Briar Cliff and Dakota Wesleyan on Sat., Aug. 28..
