Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State football team will host its annual spring game on Saturday, April 24 at 11 a.m. MT on the practice field north of the Young Center.
The spring game is open to the public and free of charge. Also, the Yellow Jacket Foundation will be hosting a barbeque during the spring game as a fundraiser for student-athlete scholarships. After the game, the team will join the barbeque and fans will have the chance to meet members of the squad.
Black Hills State is also hosting the first annual Gridiron Gathering in conjunction with the spring game. All former Yellow Jacket football players are invited to attend the gathering which includes a tour of campus and banquet. The Yellow Jackets are looking to build on a strong 2009 season where they finished 6-4 (5-3 DAC). Black Hills State finished the 2009 campaign defeating S.D. School of Mines at home 26-0 and then travelled to the Dacotah Bank DAC Bowl to defeat DAC Champion No. 16 Dickinson State 23-13.
