Thursday, December 3 - The Yellow Jackets came up just short in a heart breaking loss to rival South Dakota School of Mines Thursday evening at the Donald E. Young Center.
The Hardrockers came out strong out-scoring the Jackets 23 to 5 with 10 minutes left to play in the first half but the Jackets fought back within 7 points going into intermission led by sharp shooter Cain Atkinson who finished the night with a game high 20 points.
The Yellow Jackets outscored the Hardrockers 28-22 in the second half but came up 1 point short.
With .07 seconds left the Hardrockers went up by 1 point. In a last ditch effort on the inbounds Rob Johnson heaved the ball the length of the court where it was caught by Luke Enos who made the bucket, but the referees waved it off.
Kyle Turpin netted a team high 18 points for the Hardrockers and AJ Trennepohl had a solid evening contributing 12 points.
The Yellow Jackets had three players with double digit points; Cain Atkinson, Luke Enos and Clay Pottorff, but still fell short on the evening 63-62.
