BHSU Picks Up Two Key Wins, Rival Next!

The Yellow Jackets entered the weekend needing to pick up two key victories to help them move into a tie for first place. On Friday, Minot State came into the Donald E. Young Center looking for some revenge from the previous game. In the first half, the Yellow Jackets got off to a sluggish first ten minutes until they caught fire taking the lead into halftime 30-23. In the second half freshman Piggy Pili led the way connecting on three shots behind the arc. The Yellow Jackets increased their lead to double figures and they never looked back taking the game 63-45. BHSU was led by Piggy Pili with 15 points.
Saturday, the Yellow Jackets hosted the #1 team in the Dakota Athletic Conference Dickinson State University who won the first meeting a month ago. Dickinson State came out strong shooting 55% from the field and from behind the three point line. BHSU battled behind hot shooting from junior Brittany Fuhrman who connected on five shots behind the arc. At halftime, Dickinson had the lead 39-36. The Yellow Jackets started the second half on a 10-0 run to make the score 46-39. The Blue Hawks would bounce right back taking the game down to the very end. The Yellow Jackets were able to connect on some key free throws to take the game 77-73. BHSU was led by Brittany Fuhrman with 19 points. Piggy Pili had 15 points, sophomore Katelynn Lamb had 14 points, and freshman Keely Krolikowski added 10 points.
The 20-5 Yellow Jackets will now host rival South Dakota School of Mines on Wednesday night for another pivotal DAC matchup. Game time is at 5:30pm in the Donald E. Young Center, if you are unable to attend than you can visit the BHSU Athletics Website to purchase the game through pay per view. The Yellow Jackets will then travel to Greeley, Colorado for an exhibition game with University of Northern Colorado on Friday night. Please check the schedule for exact game times.
