Men’s Basketball Picks up a Big Win on the Road!

The Yellow Jacket Men’s Basketball Team left this past Monday to Billings, Montana for a rematch against Rocky Mountain College. Both teams met this past Friday night in Spearfish, SD at the Donald E. Young Center when Rocky Mountain won 88-76 behind a strong performance from senior guard Chase Sukut. The Yellow Jackets entered the game Tuesday 3-1 on the season.
In the first half Rocky Mountain came out strong looking to jump on the Yellow Jackets taking an early lead 15-6. BHSU battled back to eventually take a three point lead going into halftime 33-30. RMC started the second half on a 9-0 run to take the lead 39-33. The Jackets regained the lead with less than two minutes remaining on a layup by sophomore guard Clay Pottorff to make the score 60-59. Pottorff and sophomore Cain Atkinson would eventually each add a pair of free throws to make the final 64-59 outscoring the Bears 8-0 in the final two minutes. The Yellow Jackets were led by a strong inside performance by sophomore Will John Johnson with 19 points and 15 rebounds. Cain Atkinson had 15 points and did a great job on Sukut holding him to only 13 points. Clay Pottorff added 12 points.
The 4-1 Yellow Jackets will now have some time off before they return to action on November 28th & 29th in the South Dakota Mines Classic. They will take on Peru State University and Haskell College. Please check the schedule for game times.
