Men’s Basketball Sweeps Weekend!

After waiting around all day Thursday and Friday due to weather the Men’s basketball team finally left on Saturday for Dakota Wesleyan University and Mount Marty College. Coming into the weekend the Yellow Jackets had played two exhibition games against Division II Northern State University and Division I University of Northern Colorado.
On Sunday afternoon the Yellow Jackets recovered from Dakota Wesleyan’s quick start. The Yellow Jackets took the lead into halftime 42-36. In the second half the Yellow Jackets increased their lead to as many as 16 points. The Tigers came roaring back to eventually tie the game with five seconds remaining. In overtime the Yellow Jackets scored first and never looked back as sophomore guard Cain Atkinson knocked down a big three pointer to seal the win at 97-92. The Yellow Jackets were led by Cain Atkinson with 19 points. Sophomore guard Clay Pottorff had 18 points, junior guard Parker Emerson had 17 points, sophomore forward Luke Enos had 16 points, and senior point guard Aaron Sutton added 14 points. Sophomore forward Will John Johnson led the way with eight rebounds on the evening.
Monday night the Yellow Jackets took on Mount Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota. The game went back and forth in the first half with the Yellow Jackets only leading by one point at halftime. In the second half BHSU got things rolling increasing their lead to double figures and taking the game 80-61. The Yellow Jackets were led by Luke Enos with 18 points and nine rebounds. Parker Emerson had 14 points, senior forward Randy Herman had 11 points, and Will John Johnson added 10 points and 12 rebounds on the evening.
The 2-0 Yellow Jackets will have their home openers this weekend as they square off against Rocky Mountain College Friday night at 7:30pm. On Saturday the Yellow Jackets will take on Montana Tech at 3:00pm. Saturday will be parent’s day for the Yellow Jackets Men’s Basketball Team.
