Jackets Improved Play at Red Raider Classic, Looking Forward to Upcoming Weekend at Sioux Falls!
| September 04, 2008
The Yellow Jackets left last Thursday for the Red Raider Classic in Orange City, Iowa where they faced two preseason ranked opponents in Northwestern College and Dordt College. “We struggled the first day in our opening two matches where our effort was there but our execution was not. We didn’t pass well out of serve receive and that made it difficult for us to accomplish what we needed to offensively” said Head Coach Jhett Albers.
On the second day the Yellow Jackets rebounded against Concordia University as they won 3-0 in the match. “We were able to get on track in this match which helped us to gain confidence and play at a higher level going into the final match that evening against #20 Dordt College. Although we came up short in five games against Dordt the match was very even throughout which showed us that we can compete against a top twenty team. It was a night and day difference from the day before as far as our execution and confidence” added Coach Albers.
This weekend the Yellow Jackets will depart Friday for the Sioux Falls Classic where they will take on Waldorf College, Briar Cliff College, Mount Marty College and University of Sioux Falls. “We just want to continue to get better and prepare for the upcoming conference season” said Coach Albers. The Yellow Jackets will play two games on Friday and two on Saturday. Please check the schedule for updated times and results.
