Spearfish, S.D. - The Black Hills State football team was picked to finish third in the Dakota Athletic Conference preseason poll. The Yellow Jackets tallied 36 points and received one first place vote.

Spearfish, S.D. - The Black Hills State cross country teams are both looking to repeat exceptional performances from a year ago. Last season, the Yellow Jacket women earned a second place finish and the men placed eighth overall at the NAIA Championships. Head Coach Scott Walkinshaw will lead Black Hills State into competition for the ninth year. Walkinshaw is extremely optimistic about the potential successes that lie ahead for the Yellow Jackets.

Spearfish, S.D. - The Black Hills State volleyball team will have a great mix of upperclassmen and untested freshmen when they take the floor for the first time this season. The Yellow Jackets have eight returners with experience at the college level and eight freshmen on the 16-person roster entering the 2006 campaign. Head Coach Jhett Albers is excited about the opportunity to lead such a diverse team.

Dickinson, N.D. - Two Yellow Jackets have earned recognition as Don Hansen’s Football Gazette Preseason All-America selections. Senior place kicker Rocky Stevens was named to the Third Team and senior Craig Tschetter earned Honorable Mention honors. Tschetter was awarded Honorable Mention as both a defensive back and a return specialist.

Spearfish, S.D. - Former Black Hills State tight end Zach Alcorn is currently attending the Green Bay Packers training camp in Green Bay, Wisc. Alcorn is attempting to make the Packers’ active roster after signing as a free agent earlier this off-season.
