Marion, Ind. – Wendy O’Lexey defended her title from a year ago and won the marathon in 2:57:59.01 at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Marion, Ind.  O’Lexey won national title in the marathon in 2009.

Marion, Ind. – Shannon Hellman won the 100-meter hurdles after running the event in 13.45 seconds at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Marion, Ind.  Hellman nearly broke the NAIA record of 13.33 set in 2004 by Davetta Shepherd from Lindenwood during Thursday’s prelims when she posted a time of 13.37.

Spearfish, S.D. – Black Hills State University officially announced the hiring of men’s assistant basketball coach Tim Collins. Collins has been a part of several college coaching staffs over the past nine seasons. Collins will assist alongside first-year head coach Bradd Schafer in all phases of the program.

Spearfish, S.D. – The Dakota Athletic Conference softball tournament bracket was released Monday. Black Hills State is the fifth seed in the tournament and will take on the number four seed, Mayville State.  The tournament will start on May 7 in Valley City, N.D.  Black Hills State will open the DAC tournament at 10 a.m. CT/9 a.m. MT.

Jordan Rockwell has recently signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Black Hills State University beginning in the fall of 2010.  Jordan is currently a senior a Greeley West High School in Greeley, Colorado.
