The Yellow Jackets traveled this past weekend to the US Bank Classic hosted by South Dakota School of Mines.  BHSU defeated Mount Marty College 82-49 on Friday and University of Great Falls on Saturday 66-64.  With the two wins the Yellow Jackets improved to 7-3 on the season as they get set for DAC Conference play.

The Yellow Jackets traveled this past weekend to Rapid City for the US Bank Classic hosted by South Dakota School of Mines.  BHSU swept both games defeating College of St. Joseph Calumet on Friday 79-53 and Mt. The Yellow Jacket Cross Country women’s team traveled this past weekend to Vancouver, Washington for the NAIA National Championships.  BHSU finished 10th including two top performances by senior Wendy O’Lexey from Rock Springs, Wyoming and freshman Erin Curran from Wahoo, Nebraska.

This past Saturday the Yellow Jacket volleyball team traveled to Crete, Nebraska for an NAIA Opening Round matchup with #18 Doane College.  The Tigers defeated the Yellow Jackets in four games 23-25, 23-25, 25-19, and 22-25.

The Yellow Jackets improved to 5-2 on the season this past Friday night as they hosted Rocky Mountain College.  The Yellow Jackets took control from the tip building an early double figure lead.  BHSU led at halftime 52-26.  In the second half, the Yellow Jackets continued their hot shooting from the field to increase their lead even more and eventually take the game 100-65.

The Yellow Jackets traveled this past weekend to Colorado Springs for the Marriot Classic on the campus of University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.  On Friday, the Yellow Jackets got off to a great start increasing their lead to double figures over Bethany College taking a 43-31 lead into halftime.  In the second half, the Yellow Jackets began to click increasing their lead to 30 points taking the game 88-58.

Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State Men’s Basketball team (3-4) squared off against NCAA Division II opponent Chadron State College (1-0) to continue their tough non-conference schedule to begin the season. Last weekend the Yellow Jackets defeated rival South Dakota School of mines 26-0 on senior day at Lyle Hare Stadium.  The Yellow Jackets reclaimed the Homestake Trophy back from the Hardrockers after a 23-24 defeat in 2008.

Fresh off their 3-0 victory Wednesday night at South Dakota School of Mines the Yellow Jackets will return home this Saturday to host the first round of the DAC Playoffs.  BHSU received the #2 seed going into the tournament and will host #7 Minot State at 7PM in the Donald E. Young Center.

This Friday the Black Hills State cross country teams will compete at the 2009 Dakota Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships. The meet returns to Robbinsdale Park in Rapid City, the site of the third DAC Cross Country Championships held in 2002.
