The Black Hills State University cross country teams ran to runner-up finishes in the fourteen team field at the Mt. Marty Invitational on Saturday, October 25. The meet was hosted by the University of South Dakota and ran on the Don Baker course on the USD campus. Click above for more details.

The Lady Yellow Jackets traveled last weekend to Valley City State University and Jamestown College for two tough conference games. Going into the weekend the Lady Jackets were 17-5 overall and 9-0 in the Dakota Athletic Conference. Click above for more details.

This past Saturday the Yellow Jackets traveled to Aberdeen, South Dakota to take on Northern State University, an NCAA Division II school that finished 29-4 last year and ranked  5th in the country at the end of the season. Click above for more details.

This Saturday the Yellow Jackets will kickoff their final home conference game against Minot State University. The Yellow Jackets will enter the game 5-2 (3-1 DAC) looking to rebound from last weeks loss on the road at Dickinson State. The Beavers enter the game 4-3 (3-1 DAC) tied with the Yellow Jackets for second place in the conference. “Every week becomes a must win game. Two conference losses will not get it done. We have to play with urgency but not panic” said Head Coach John Scott.

The Yellow Jackets will open their season against NCAA Divison II Northern State University in an exhibition game this Saturday. You can see the game live through Northern Sun TV. Game time is at 7:00 PM CST.

Former Black Hills State University cross country/track and field athlete Lisa Bomengen (Reynolds) competed in the Portland Marathon held on Sunday, October 5. Lisa had an outstanding race covering the 26.2 mile distance in 3:29.41 (3h:29m:30s). Her time placed her 20th in her division that had 608 finishers. Out of 4022 female finishers Lisa placed 92nd. Click above for more details.

The Lady Yellow Jackets entered Saturday afternoon looking to stay perfect in the Dakota Athletic Conference. After a sluggish first game the Lady Jackets bounced back to win the next three games taking the match 3-1 and improving to 8-0 in conference play. Click here for more details.

The Yellow Jackets made the trip up HWY 85 this past Saturday looking to build on their four game winning streak. Dickinson State also had a streak going winning their last three conference games.  From kickoff the Blue Hawks took the momentum early building a 16 point lead going into halftime. The Yellow Jackets would hold Dickinson to 16 points for the rest of the game but could only account for one late score to make the final 16-6 in favor of the Blue Hawks. Sophomore Maggie O'Neill was recently named Dakota Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for her efforts last week against rival South Dakota School of Mines.  The Lady Yellow Jackets defeated the Lady Hardrockers 3-0 to improve to 15-5 on the season. Last weekend the Lady Yellow Jackets went on their longest trip of the year to Mayville, North Dakota and Madison, South Dakota.  The Yellow Jackets defeated Mayville last Friday night 3-2 and Dakota State on Saturday 3-0. Click here for more details.

The Yellow Jackets Men’s Basketball team started last season with a lot of new faces to the program.  As the season went on those new faces started inserting themselves into the starting lineup.  At the end of the season the Yellow Jackets were starting five freshmen and finishing with a 16-14 record, which was good for fourth place in the Dakota Athletic Conference.  The Yellow Jackets now return those five starters along with others to improve in 2008-2009.
