Friday, February 5, 2009 Spearfish, S.D.- The Black Hills State University Lady Yellow Jackets were able to knock off the Jamestown Jimmies at the Donald Young Center to take over sole possession of first play in Dakota Athletic Conference Play.
Black Hills State University will be hosting a fundraiser for Coaches vs. Cancer on Saturday, February 6 as the Yellow Jackets take on Valley City State in men’s and women’s basketball at the Young Center. This year, proceeds raised from the event will benefit former Sturgis High School boy’s basketball coach and Black Hills State alum Ethan Dschaak.
Black Hills State University basketball reached a great milestone this past year as four players have all reached the 1000 point mark.
Saturday, January 30, 2010- Spearfish, S.D the Lady Yellow Jackets were able to come away with an impressive 20 point win over The Chadron State Eagles led the sharp shooting of Senior Brittany Fuhrman.
Thursday, January 26- Rapid City, South Dakota. The Black Hills State Lady Yellow Jackets Defeated the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Hard Rockers 72-63 in conference play.
This past weekend will be memorable in more ways than one for Black Hills State University’s Junior Katelynn Lamb. When asked what the most memorable part of her trip to North Dakota to take on Dickinson State University and Minot State University was this past weekend she did not mention how their travel plans had to be changed due to road closures, it was her scoring her 1,000 point as a Yellow Jacket versus Minot State University on January 23, 2010.
January 25, 2010 – Despite getting momentarily stuck in North Dakota due to road closures, the Black Hills State Lady Yellow Jackets remained unfazed as they defeated the Minot State Beavers in Minot, N.D. on Saturday 66-58.
Friday, January 22 – Dickinson, N.D. The Black Hills State University Lady Yellow Jackets (14-5) came away with a 54-47 victory over the Dickinson State University Blue Hawks (12-7).
The Junior Jacket Camp hosted by the men’s and women’s basketball programs at Black Hills State University has recently been moved from January 29th to February 15th on President’s Day.
