Monday, December 2, 2013 A recently published book by Black Hills State University alumna Verna Heaton Benham documents her life growing up in the Northern Hills including her time as a student at Black Hills Teachers College, where she was valedictorian of the Class of 1959.

BHSU students will perform holiday play written by graduate
Wednesday, November 27, 2013 A play inspired by a Charles Dickens Christmas story and written by Black Hills State University alumna Jessica Juhrend will be performed in the Woodburn Hall Theatre Thursday, Dec. 5 through Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m.

BHSU graduate takes research experience to Cambodia
Friday, November 22, 2013 Recent Black Hills State University psychology graduate Kori Hague never thought she wanted to focus her career on research; her mind changed after working with Dr. Aris Karagiorgakis, BHSU assistant professor of psychology. Hague is now in the process of getting her undergraduate work published and recently returned from a trip to Cambodia where she studied marine conservation.

World’s Strongest Man Brian Shaw returns to BHSU to receive 2013 Young Alumni Achievement Award
Tuesday, November 5, 2013 Brian Shaw, a 2004 graduate of BHSU, was recently named the World's Strongest Man, earning the title for the second time in three years. Shaw will return to BHSU this month as he accepts this year's Young Alumni Achievement Award.  Shaw will be honored during halftime of the home opener of the men’s basketball game Saturday, Nov. 16.
