BHSU to host pre-construction gathering for future Alumni Welcome Center

Black Hills State University will host a pre-construction tent gathering Tuesday, May 22 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the future site of the BHSU Alumni/Foundation Welcome Center, which is located on St. Joe Street, south of Lyle Hare Stadium and Ida Henton Park on the BHSU campus.

The Black Hills State University Alumni Association honored Mike Odle, Class of 2002, with the Young Alumni Achievement Award during the 2012 Student Volunteer Awards Celebration.

 

Lindee Lawrence receives 2012 Whirlwind Horse Scholarship at BHSU

Black Hills State University sophomore Lindee Lawrence, biology major from Spearfish, is the recipient of the 2012 Kevin Whirlwind Horse Memorial Scholarship. Each year during the Kevin Whirlwind Horse Memorial Run/Walk, a $500 scholarship is presented to an American Indian sophomore who demonstrates outstanding academic ability and leadership skills. The overall winners for this year’s race were Wes Broeder, Spearfish, and Marci Holben, Spearfish, in the 5K run; and Philip Schwartz, Spearfish, and Keena Byrd-Moro, Spearfish, in the 10K run.


BHSU graduate earns second in Governor’s Giant Vision Business Awards Competition

Black Hills State University will hold the 27th Annual Kevin Whirlwind Horse Memorial Run/Walk Saturday, April 14, before the Lakota Omniciye spring powwow. Registration begins at 10 a.m. in Salem Park.

 

 


Longtime BHSU art professor receives Distinguished Faculty Award

James Knutson, professor of art at Black Hills State University, received a surprise announcement during class from BHSU President Kay Schallenkamp and Dr. Rod Custer, provost and vice president of Academic Affairs, honoring him with the 2012 Distinguished Faculty Award. Faculty members are chosen for the award by their peers.
