BHSU holds 29th Annual Kevin Whirlwind Horse Memorial Run/Walk

The Black Hills State University track and cross country program is organizing the 29th Annual Kevin Whirlwind Horse Memorial Run/Walk Sunday, April 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Lyle Hare Stadium. The race is one of the final events of the week-long American Indian Awareness celebration. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with categories for all ages.
Spearfish High School student awarded full ride Nelson Scholarship
Monday, April 7, 2014 Spearfish High School senior Sam Hintgen, who plans to major in biology with a goal of going into the medical field, joins the elite ranks of Nelson Scholars at Black Hills State University. He was selected based on his outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements at Spearfish High School as well as his leadership abilities, integrity and responsibility.

BHSU alum producer of the Olympic Closing Ceremony
Friday, March 14, 2014 The Sochi Olympic Games Closing Ceremony, one of the largest single shows ever produced, put a spotlight on Russian culture and heritage. It featured dancers from the Bolshoi and the Mariinsky, music by Rachmaninoff, Rubinstein, and Vladimir Horowitz, and references to some of the country’s greatest authors, Tolstoy, Gogol, and Dostoyevsky. It was an epic celebration – exactly the result Black Hills State University alum Michael Shann was looking for.

For two decades, the imagination and creativity of Black Hills State University student photographers have produced hundreds of amazing images. Annually, BHSU exhibits these images during a Spring Student Photography Exhibition. In celebration of the 20th anniversary of this exhibition, the BHSU photography program will display photos from its Permanent Photography Collection from March 18 – April 4 in the University’s Ruddell Gallery.
