Two BHSU students receive the Dorothy Morris Memorable Scholarship

Tuesday, September 16, 2014 Sandra and Alva (Tad) Addy place a strong emphasis on higher education.

The Addy’s commitment, passion and history in the education field and with Black Hills State University were key in their selection as the 2014 Swarm Days Grand Parade Marshals. The annual BHSU Swarm Days Parade is at 10 a.m. on Sept. 20.


BHSU celebrates annual Swarm Days homecoming week Sept. 15-20

The Black Hills State University campus and community celebrate the annual Swarm Days this week with events influenced by the “Sting lightning” theme.  Events include carnivals, pep rally, a hike, alumni awards, homecoming football game and parade. 


BHSU special education major recipient of the Amy & Michelle Emmert Scholarship
Thursday, September 11, 2014 Angela Rose, a special education major from Rapid City, was awarded the $15,000 Amy & Michelle Emmert Scholarship for the 2014-2015 academic year.

MBA graduate connects academic capstone to public with community bike race

Melissa Currier, who earned her MBA from Black Hills State University this summer, maximized the impact of her capstone project by partnering with the Spearfish Community Coalition to create a community bike race.The event will be held Sept. 13 and is designed to support positive, healthy, drug-free youth.



BHSU student awarded women in business regional scholarship from Zonta

Samantha Johnson, senior business administration major from Spearfish, received a $1,500 Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship from Zonta International. 

BHSU professor, graduate present research at national psychological convention
Tuesday, August 26, 2014 Kaitlin Schneider, a 2014 BHSU graduate from Sturgis, and Dr. Aris Karagiorgakis, assistant professor of psychology at BHSU, presented their research on the effects drawing prior to a police lineup had on memory at the American Psychological Association (APA) Convention in Washington D.C. this summer.

BHSU staffer fulfills bucket list item with 2014 Jacket Ride

Heidi Kegler checked one more thing off her bucket list. She rode a motorcycle.

Kegler was a passenger during the 2014 Jacket Ride Tuesday. The annual Jacket Ride takes motorcycle riders through the scenic Northern Black Hills during the famed Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
