Psychology professor at BHSU gives equivalent of 19 years’ salary for scholarship initiative

Dr. James Hess, professor of psychology and chair of the School of Behavioral Sciences at Black Hills State University, recently pledged a $1 million gift to BHSU to establish the School of Behavioral Sciences Make a Difference Initiative.


BHSU alumnae named SD CTE Teacher of the Year
Thursday, October 23, 2014 LuAnn Schroeder, teacher at Spearfish High School, was awarded the South Dakota Career & Technical Education (SD CTE) Business, Marketing and Information Technology Teacher of the Year Award during the SD CTE conference in Mitchell this year.

Thursday, October 23, 2014 Shelly Mikkelson, second grade teacher at South Park Elementary School in Belle Fourche, was awarded the 2014 Belle Fourche Teacher of the Year Award.

Oretta Jastorff, the wife of the late Marvin (Marv) Jastorff, Class of ’59, donated $10,000 to establish the Marvin Jastorff Scholarship Fund to provide assistance to future generations of Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets.

BHSU library to host artist reception with Donald Montileaux
Friday, October 10, 2014 A public reception and presentation for Donald Montileaux is planned at the Black Hills State University E.Y. Berry Library. The library recently purchased a piece of Montileaux’s artwork, “Con.Fron.Ta.Tion,” through the Lyndle Dunn fund, which is displayed at the library.

KBHU-FM celebrates 40 years of broadcasting at BHSU
