Lionel Bordeaux, ’64
Bordeaux, president of Sinte Gleska College, graduated from BHSC in 1964 with a composite major in social science and history. He received his master’s degree from the University of South Dakota and was a doctoral candidate at the University of Minnesota. In addition to serving as college president since 1973, he has been active with the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, serving as a councilman and as chairman of the education committee.
Through his leadership Sinte Gleska College became a fully accredited reservation-based institution of higher education, the first of its kind at the bachelor’s degree level. He was also responsible for establishing a reservation-based master’s degree program in elementary education.
