BHSU and the FAFSA® Form

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form is the application for federal student aid. And, as the name implies, it is free! You are not required to complete the form to attend BHSU, but you may miss out on funding opportunities if you choose to not complete it.

When completing the FAFSA® form, be sure to list BHSU's school code: 003459. We will not be sent your data if you do not have us listed as a school to receive it.

Who should complete the FAFSA® form?

Any student, regardless of income, who is interested in federal aid, including grants, loans, and work-study.

Why should I complete the FAFSA® form?

The BHSU Student Financial Aid Office uses data from the FAFSA® form to determine how much financial aid you are eligible to receive. Work-study and loans require you to accept them and will not be paid to your account without that active confirmation.

When should I complete the FAFSA® form?

You will want to complete the FAFSA® form as soon as it opens. Some funds are limited and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The 2023-24 FAFSA opened on October 1, 2022. This form is for Summer 2023, Fall 2023, and Spring 2024 semesters/terms.

The 2024-25 FAFSA opened on January 1, 2024. This form is for the Summer 2024, Fall 2024, and Spring 2025 semesters/terms. For information regarding the changes to the 2024-25 form, please visit our BHSU page or the Federal Student Aid website.

*Please note: Federal Student Aid will not be providing 2024-25 FAFSA® eligibility information to schools until late January.

The 2025-26 FAFSA is anticipated to open on October 1, 2024.

Where do I go and what do I need to complete the FAFSA® form?
