So about me, well let’s see... I grew up in a tiny town called Ralph, SD and lived on a farm/ranch over 20 miles from the nearest town.  May sound like the boonies, but it was great.  I learned a lot on the farm and am very thankful for the experience.

I graduated high school and then moved onto college, where I graduated with majors in Business and Art History.  An odd combination, but figured I should pick something practical and something I was passionate about.  It was a great experience and has definitely started me on a great career path.  I moved to Spearfish in 2006. It is such a great place to live. I love the beauty that surrounds it, the many, many outdoor opportunities and the community.

What‘s Great about Black Hills State!

  • I have said before that I like the personality of BHSU and that is still true.  It is an eclectic mix of different students, interests, fields of study, all wrapped up in this one place where people are learning, living, working and playing.  People are personable on campus.  Staff, faculty, and students all greet each other and get to know one another.  The campus fosters people to reach their goals, whatever they may be.
  • Location, Location, Location!!  We are a mountain oasis in the middle of a vast prairie.  Hills are led up to by rolling grasses and wide open spaces and then there it is - trees, rock wall canyons, and hills.  The scenic beauty also offers tons of activities, hiking, biking, fishing, skiing, snowboarding, rock climbing, and more all within 20 minutes of campus, most right in our backyard.
  • An innovative, exciting learning environment that challenges students in new and different ways.  Research opportunities are abundant in all fields.  Classes average 20 students per course, a great class size to be able to discuss with not only your professors, but your fellow students.  BHSU is big enough to offer many opportunities but small enough you won’t feel like one of the masses.
  • I could blab on forever, but I won’t bore you, come and check it out for yourself!
