BHSU participates in initiative to increase participation in high school journalism programs

Black Hills State University has joined two other state universities and other entities in North Dakota and South Dakota in an effort to reverse the decline in student participation in high school journalism programs.

Tuesday, August 12, 2014 Black Hills State University and Sanford Underground Research Facility just received word that a $125,000 Innovation Grant from the South Dakota Board of Regents will fund infrastructure to advance the BHSU Underground Campus at Sanford Lab.

Black Hills State University music professor Dr. Symeon Waseen has spent much of his summer preparing for his fall performance of one of the 20th century’s premier piano masterpieces – including trips to the local hardware store.In the unique performance next month, Waseen will perform Sonatas and Interludes, with what is referred to as a “prepared piano piece” by the late composer John Cage.

BHSU professors discuss the connection between art and science
Monday, July 21, 2014 A group of panelists, including two Black Hills State University professors, will engage in a discussion on the connection of art and science, a theme that has also been the subject of a statewide traveling art exhibit. The discussion is Wednesday, July 30 at 5:30 p.m. at the Dahl Arts Center in Rapid City and will be held in conjunction with the exhibit’s month-long stop at the Dahl.
