Research Opportunities: Mentored research and creative work conducted by undergraduate students with the guidance of a faculty member is an exciting learning opportunity that complements classroom instruction. Almost all academic areas have opportunities to become involved in this type of educational experience. Students interested in working on an independent research project should contact a faculty member, whose research or creative work interests them. If a project can be worked out, the student needs to get the yellow and green forms for registering for research from the College Office, Jonas 108. Once filled out and signed by the student and faculty mentor, the forms are returned to the College Office for processing. The final step is the student takes the green form to the Registrar's Office in Woodburn.
Students who have completed research are encouraged to present at the Black Hills Research Symposium, which is held each year on campus in late March or early April. A call for oral paper submissions or poster presentations goes out in January.
