 What does this program provide?

• Get an accelerated route to a secondary teacher certification at competitive tuition rates.  This full time, compact, intense and dynamic 10 month program integrates 'theory into practice instruction' throughout the year.
• Work in a 'cohort' format throughout the experience, to promote reflective teaching and learning.
• Receive the opportunity to engage and reflect with Professional Development School teachers and University faculty in the best practices to gain consistency and excellence.
• Experience varied learning environments in a Professional Development School, a reservation site, and an urban setting.  This program builds a bridge to connect theory with practice.

Where will the program be delivered?

• Professional Development Schools involved in Project SELECT are located in the Rapid City school district.

  • Douglas High School
• University classroom coursework will be at the Higher Education Center in Rapid City.

  Students will visit a reservation school in South Dakota, and spend one week at an urban sites in Denver, CO.

When will Project SELECT begin and end?

• This program is a full time program lasting 10 months.  It begins in mid-August and ends in May the following year.

 How can you become involved?

1. Apply online to Project SELECT
2. Forward 3 letters of recommendation to Project Directors
3. Provide copies of transcripts to Project Directors
4. Take and pass the PPST (Praxis 1) or Rising Junior test
5. Take and Pass the content Praxis  (Praxis 2) test
6. Complete an interview for Project SELECT
7. Apply to BHSU and provide official transcripts to the University
