Accreditation Committee
This committee is responsible for coordinating the work of the College in meeting requirements for maintaining accreditation with NCATE and the State of South Dakota; forwarding recommendations concerning policies and procedures for meeting accreditation requirements to the College faculty for approval; preparing for ongoing accreditation by developing and implementing annual goals and objectives relative to accreditation standards; maintaining communication with all stakeholders to ensure understanding of the accreditation process and standards; keeping abreast of changes in accreditation.

Assessment Committee
This committee is primarily responsible for collecting and analyzing data on candidate and graduate performance and operations to evaluate and improve the performance of candidates, the unit and program.  The committee ensures fairness, accuracy and consistency in assessment procedures; develops and implements follow-up surveys on programs and graduates; ensures that program assessment data are regularly and systematically collected, compiled, aggregated, summarized and analyzed; and designs assessment procedures to determine that candidates can demonstrate proficiencies related to diversity and technology.

Curriculum Committee
This committee is primarily responsible for the ongoing review of curriculum to assure compliance with state and national accreditation requirements and candidate competence in the demonstration of knowledge, skills, and professional dispositions necessary to help all students learn.  They also provide assistance to faculty in completing curriculum proposal paperwork and in understanding the University curriculum review process; approving proposed curricular changes and forwarding proposed curricular changes to the Dean and to the University Curriculum Committee for approval.

Graduate Council Committee
This committee is responsible for development, reviewing and revising the NSCI program and graduate courses to assure compliance with state and national accreditation requirements; making recommendations to the BHSU Graduate Council regarding policy issues under the jurisdiction of the council; serving as chairs and/or advisors for MSCI graduate students; implementing the candidacy and capstone requirements.

Mission and Strategic Planning Committee
This committee shall include at least three members and is responsible for: Designing, implementing and evaluating the unit's conceptual framework through work with all constituents.  They also will develop, monitor and revise the College of Education Strategic Plan and communicate progress towards Strategic Plan goals to constituents as well as making recommendations regarding resources needed to implement planning goals.

Professional Progress Committee
This committee is responsible for collecting and analyzing data on applicants to the College of Education; monitoring the progress of students throughout their professional education; reviewing student appeals of an academic nature; reviewing student requests for special consideration in field experiences placements; designing, implementing, and evaluating field experiences; ensuring that candidate experiences include working with diverse populations.
Due to the confidential nature of the content and to protect students and faculty, minutes for the Professional Progress Committee (PPC) are not posted here.  These minutes are kept in the Office of Field Experiences in a locked file.”

Scholarship Committee
This committee is responsible for making student in the College aware of available scholarships and awards as well as receiving and reviewing applications for scholarships and awards.  This committee also selects student for the receipt of scholarships and awards and plans and conducts the annual scholarship awards reception, coordinating with Student Financial Services and University Advancement.

Teacher Advisory Council
This committee is responsible for assisting the College of Education to advance college goals and initiatives through consultation, advocacy, outreach, and support.  Priorities include connecting the university with surrounding communities, providing a form for the discussion of issues related to teacher education programs, and expanding networks of support for students and progress within the College of Education.  This Council is comprised of approximately 15 members including faculty; public school district members; community members representing business, government and location organizations and students.

Teacher Work Sample
This committee is responsible for managing the Teacher Word Sample assignment.  The TWS replaces the Educational Portfolio and is a graduation requirement.  The TWS is a completed unit that employs 6 factors to effectively design, deliver, and assess instruction.  The Factors are:  1.Contextual information and Learning Environment:  2.Unit Goals and Learning Outcomes:  3.Instructional Design and Implementation/Demonstration of Integration Skills:  4.Analysis of Classroom Learning Environment:  5.Analysis of Assessment Procedures:  6. Reflection and Self-Evaluation.  The TWS is used to assess each candidate's ability to:  plan and deliver an effective instructional unit, employ meaningful classroom assessments, impact P-12 student learning and analyze and reflection on their experiences.

Technology Committee
This committee is responsible for developing a strategic plan for the integration of technology into the College's curriculum and instruction to support the technology proficiencies: providing professional development to support faculty in investigating new and innovative methods for integrating technology into the curriculum; reviewing hardware and software pertinent to the mission of the College and making purchasing recommendations; making recommendations in the use of information technologies for effectively and efficiently managing data to support the unit assessment system, making recommendations regarding facility changes to support the most recent developments in technology that allow faculty to model the use of technology and candidates to practice its use for instructional purposes.
