The teacher education program at Black Hills State University affords students the opportunity to qualify for licensure to teach in preschool, elementary school, middle school, secondary school, K-12, and special education. Graduate courses leading to teacher endorsements and to a Master of Science degree in curriculum and instruction, with specializations in technology, reading, science, and mathematics, are available to certified teachers. In addition there are 40 teaching endorsements. The teacher education program at Black Hills State University is approved by the South Dakota Department of Education and Cultural Affairs and the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board. The teacher education program is also nationally accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
