A Message from Dr. Pat Simpson, Dean of theCollege of Education and Behavioral Sciences

Hello, students! 

Welcome to our college!  The faculty members and I want to provide a student-centered and supportive environment for you to learn and to prepare for successful careers in psychology, sociology, human services, exercise science, outdoor education, physical education, elementary education, special education, early childhood special education, middle level teaching, or high school teaching. 

You will find my door always open, and you will find faculty members who are actively engaged, service oriented, and committed to YOU!  The College of Education and Behavioral Sciences has highly qualified faculty, exciting opportunities for research and internships, and excellent RESULTS that show our graduates have high job placement rates and high rates of acceptance to graduate programs of choice.

About the Dean

Dr. Pat Simpson earned her Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education with an English minor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  She earned her M.Ed. and Ed.D. degrees from Texas Tech University.  Dr. Simpson has been at BHSU since 2005 and is in her second year as Dean of the college.  She previously served as Professor of Education, Graduate Coordinator, and Assessment Coordinator.  Prior to coming to BHSU, Dr. Simpson served as Department Chair and Professor of Education at Abilene Christian University in Texas and as Vice President for Academic Affairs at York College in Nebraska.  Her career in public K-12 education included many years as a teacher, curriculum coordinator, and assistant principal in Texas and Nebraska schools.
