We have many opportunities for professional work in the field. Students interested in athletic training or physical therapy can work daily with staff to care for our athletes. There are also opportunities to teach a variety of fitness classes to the community. Black Hills State University has the largest fitness center in the region and offers students practical experience working with adults and students in exercise programming. For more information regarding internship opportunities contact Mike Wiblishauser in the fitness center.
One of the program’s strength is the rich internship program. Your advisor will spend considerable time with you to find the right internship experience and we have many options across the United States. Former students have interned in various locations such as: Cardiac rehab, Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center, local gyms, weight loss camps, and physical therapy clinics. Many of our former students now serve as internship preceptors.
If you are interested in joining the Wellness Club, we meet twice a month. Contact Dr. Schurrer to learn more.
