Gain practical insights into the field through class projects, guest lectures, internships and faculty assisted student research. The program is focused on preparing you to land that first job in Management and continue to grow professionally. As part of the program there are many opportunities to get involved on-campus including internships, guest lectures, student clubs and organizations. Management internships are available every year. Organizations work with our faculty to provide both paid and unpaid student internships. Many BHSU interns are offered professional employment upon graduation.
The following student organizations are available for you to join:
JIC was founded to enhance student learning and engagement in the financial market and provide information for students who are interested in stock market investment. In particular, the club is formed as a legal partnership entity to give students a vehicle to invest their own money and learn how to analyze securities. Faculty advisor is Sheng Yang (642-6429)
American Marketing Association (AMA)
(AMA) is a national organization that aids Marketing (and other) majors in applying the skills they have learned in the classroom, acquiring new, real-life skills to help them in the future. When a student joins the AMA, they have immediate access to a vast network of trade publications, online tutorials, and job opportunities. On the collegiate level, the students will gain leadership skills, community service time, and professional skills that will stay with them long after graduation. Student Human Resource Association (SHRM)
SHRM is a professional student organization consisting of students majoring in Human Resources and other fields who are interested in exploring Human Resources as a profession after graduation. Networking opportunities with local professionals, certification study groups, field trips to local employers and other activities are planned to provide student members with an orientation to career opportunities in HR. The faculty advisor is David Scarborough (642-6159).
Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE)
SIFE teaches the free enterprise system to others on campus and throughout the Black Hills. The group creates opportunities to learn how to use the free enterprise system. The faculty advisor is Verona Beguin(642-6398).
Travel and Tourism Club (TTC)
TTC gathers students who are interested in pursuing a career in the travel and tourism industry and enhances their education through practical experience. The faculty advisor is Dan Spencer (642-6876).
