BHSU professors tell their immigration stories in new Matthews Opera House exhibit
Monday, February 3, 2014

Four Black Hills State University professors along with several other Spearfish residents will share their stories of immigration to the United States through an exhibit at the Matthews Opera House Gallery titled “Over Land & Sea: Immigration Stories of Spearfish.”

The opening reception for the exhibit is Friday, Feb. 7 from 5-7 p.m. in the Matthews Opera House Gallery. The exhibit will be up through Feb. 22.

Spring session of the South Dakota Stock Market Game starts Feb.10

Teachers may now register for the Spring 2014 session of the South Dakota Stock Market Game Program (SDSMG).  The session begins on Monday, Feb. 10 and ends its 10-week trading period Friday, April 18.

Monday, January 27, 2014 The South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO), the women’s business center at Black Hills State University, will host the monthly Women in Networking (WIN) lunch at the Spearfish Holiday Inn Swarm Room Tuesday, Feb. 11 from noon to 1 p.m.

BHSU announces fall 2013 dean’s list
Thursday, January 16, 2014 The Office of Academic Affairs at Black Hills State University has released the dean’s list for the fall of 2013 semester.  A total of 722 students maintained a grade point average of 3.5 or above while taking at least 12 credit hours to be named to the list this semester.

Thursday, January 16, 2014 Adam Merchen loves history, whether it is history books, movies or simply someone relaying a story of a historical event. The students in Kelly Kirk’s U.S. History course were able to see Merchen’s enthusiasm firsthand during the fall semester. Merchen, a resident of the Northern Hills Training Center, was one of several community members who were able to expand their knowledge through the Black Hills State University Visitor Pass program.

BHSU student wins South Dakota Stock Market Game fall trading session
Monday, January 13, 2014 Black Hills State University student Megan Stevens, corporate communication major from Ashland, Mont., won the college division of the South Dakota Stock Market Game (SDSMG) fall trading session with a final portfolio of $113,851.

BHSU geology class takes first underground field trip at Sanford Lab
Friday, January 3, 2014 A Black Hills State University geology class received a new perspective on the area’s geological formations when they spent a day in December touring the 300 level of the Sanford Underground Research Facility, the former Homestake Mine. Dr. Abigail Domagall’s students were the first from BHSU to have an opportunity to go underground.
