The students, part of Dr. Wei Song’s retail management course, presented their ideas to four Spearfish small businesses in an attempt to boost traffic and sales.
BHSU tourism professor researches business perspective of pine beetle infestation
Monday, December 9, 2013 For nearly two decades, the mountain pine beetle has spread across hundreds of thousands of acres of the Black Hills National Forest leaving behind millions of dead pine trees. While much has been studied on the ecological impact of the pine beetles, little has been done on the effects the infestation has had on the tourism business – one of the South Dakota’s main industries. Dr. Ignatius Cahyanto, Black Hills State University assistant professor of tourism and hospitality management, is taking steps to change that.
BHSU participates in community projects to make holidays brighter

Friday, December 6, 2013 Black Hills State University will recognize 229 candidates for graduation during the University’s 166th commencement ceremony Saturday, Dec. 14 at 10 a.m. in the Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center. Degrees for the fall 2013 BHSU graduates include nine masters, 196 bachelors, and 24 associates.
