Welcome to BHSU's Music Program

Private Lessons at BHSUWelcome to the Department of Music at Black Hills State University. BHSU is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music and has a rich history of preparing music educators and performers.

Students can earn a B.S. in Music Education or in Music Performance. Scholarships are available as are work study opportunities and other types of financial awards. BHSU music faculty's diverse members are committed to individual mentoring as they encourage each student to excel in all musical styles and to consider a variety of career applications.

In the BHSU music program, you'll be working in one of the finest music facilities in the region. Meier Hall is a new facility that is home to a beautiful recital hall with state of the art recording equipment.

There are several opportunities to perform at BHSU. We have six performing ensembles, both choral and instrumental, that are open to all students whether you major or minor in music or simply enjoy performing.
