Journalism Emphasis of the Mass Communications Major

The journalism program not only teaches students the basics of the basics of the business, such as researching, reporting, writing, and editing, but through such courses as Web Publishing and Mass Media Issues, students also learn about the latest trends in communication technologies. Students graduate rounded journalistic skills.

A degree in Journalism opens the door to a number of exciting careers. Some students work in print media, while others are hired in the exciting world of online publishing. But with the skills a Journalism degree offers, many careers are open as is graduate school.

Community Program

The Mass Communication program and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) are conducting an innovative social media project, designed to connect college students with area senior volunteers. The communication between the groups focuses on oral history and planning integrated activities within the community.
