BHSU Partner Universities

Partner Universities offer the true "exchange" experience.  No third parties, tuition paid to Black Hills State, and direct contact with program personnel make choosing from an exchange partner a great option.

BHSU has hosted hundreds of students from our partner universities and many BHSU students have reciprocated for semesters and academic years as well.

South Korea:  BHSU has several partner university options in South Korea.

BHSU has several Partner Universities in South Korea.  South Korea is highly technologically advanced infrastructure and home to the main terminal of the KTX bullet train, making it a gateway to the entire country.  You will find and endless variety of restaurants, shopping malls and way to engage in the culture.

Kyung Hee University, Seoul, South Korea:

Founded in 1949, Kyung Hee University boasts an academic tradition that combines education, research and practice, while pursuing the universal values of peace and mutual prosperity.  While Korean language courses are available, about 30% of the regular courses offered are taught in English, allowing several options for non-Korean speaking BHSU students.  Finally, for your convenience, KHU offers affordable, on campus housing.

Yeungnam University, Gyeongsan, South Korea

Yeungnam University is close to Daegu Metropolitan City. Daegu is the fourth largest city in South Korea with 2.5 million residents. Yeungnam University is a private international University founded in 1967 by president Jung-he Park.  The size of the campus is second largest in South Korea. Yeungnam University has fourteen departments and six additional majors. Currently it has thirty six thousand under graduate students, three thousand seven hundred graduate students and about six hundred professors and fifty three English language teachers.

Yeungnam University provides YUISS (YU International Summer School), KLI (Korean Language Institute) and the English Language Partner Program (ELP).  Please see the Office of International Studies for details.

Hanyang University International Summer School, Seoul, South Korea

A full semester not for you?  Hanyang University International Summer School (HISS) is a four week program that offers a variety of courses in English with an opportunity to earn up to 9 credit hours.  Wednesdays are reserved for cultural outings and activities and BHSU students receive free, on campus housing for the duration of the program. The 2013 program dates are July 2 to July 26.

Daegu University, Daegu, South Korea

Daegu University is a comprehensive university with 12 colleges (91 majors), 8 graduate schools, and an enrollment of over 20,000 students. Daegu consists of two campuses:  Gyeongsan and Daegu.  Daegu is located about 180 miles south of Seoul and is Korea's third largest city with a population near 2.5 million.  Public transportation includes air, train, subway and taxi, making it accessible and affordable.  The 1,000 acre campus is surrounded by Muncheonji Lake making it the ideal place to study Korean culture, language, and more.

The Discover Korea Scholarship is an excellent low-cost opportunity to participate in the Korea Language Program and Academic Courses through DU.  The scholarship includes free housing and free airfare for up to one year.  Applications are available through the Office of International Studies.  

Dongguk University, Seoul, South Korea

Donngguk University is located in the middle of Seoul which is the capital city in Korea. Dongguk University was founded in 1906 by Buddhist leaders based on the idea of saving the country through education. Dongguk University has led Korean society, having produced over 200,000 graduates on a firm foundation of tradition and excellence. In 2006, Dongguk University celebrated its 100th anniversary. Looking forward to the coming century, Dongguk is striving to become the most prestigious private university in Korea, and a distinguished global institution.

Konkuk University, Seoul, South Korea

Established in 1931, Konkuk University is one of South Korea's leading comprehensive private universities in South Korea and recognized in the top ten universities in the country.  KU offers 120 undergraduate degrees, 74 graduate and 64 doctoral degrees and has campuses located in Seoul and Chungju.  Programs include exchange programs, summer programs, and the KU Internship & Cultural Experience (ICE) Program.

Vytautas Magnus University – Kaunas, Lithuania

About Kaunas, Lithuania:

Situated in the heart of Lithuania, Kaunas is the country’s second largest city with nearly 350,000 residents.  It is the home of six universities, two academies and is an attractive center of business and industry.  Additionally, this vibrant community is full of culture and hosts famous music, dance and visual art festivals and it is known for its active, young and ambitious people.  As the one time capital of country, this beautiful city is full of centuries of history.    

About Vytautas Magnus University:

Vytautas Magnus is a modern, liberal university that was re-established in 1989 after the fall of the Soviet Union.  The university’s history actually dates back to its founding in 1922, giving it a rich tradition marked by resilience.  VMU collaborates with universities around the world and offers 300 courses in English.  Furnished dorm rooms are available at an affordable price.

University of Ljubljana – Ljubljana, Slovenia

About University of Ljubljana:

The university was founded in 1919 on the basis of centuries of educational tradition, remaining the only Slovenia University for half a century. The University is based in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, a relatively large Central- European city with over 300.000 inhabitants. More than 63,000 graduate and postgraduate students of 22 faculties, 3 academies and 1 university college account for more than one-seventh of the population, giving the city a youthful and lively character.  Housing options for students include dormitories or rending a room or flat.  

While there are several departments that offer English courses at faculties of the University of Ljubljana, our current agreement is specifically with the Faculty (College) of Social Sciences.    

IDRAC School of Management – Lyon, France

IDRAC is a French private institution with 7 campus sites: Lyon, Montpellier, Paris, Nantes, Toulouse, Nice and Grenoble.  IDRAC offers a portfolio of business programs taught in English that are strongly oriented towards marketing and management.
