Prepare for veterinarian school by earning a bachelor’s degree in biology or chemistry. Students at BHSU have the opportunity to conduct research with faculty mentors. This research experience in invaluable as students apply to the extremely competitive veterinarian professional schools. Experience working with a practicing veterinarian is very important as well. BHSU faculty members work with area veterinarians to secure job shadowing and part-time work opportunities for students. Students who are planning to do research or teach in a higher educational setting, are required to have a Ph. D. Regional veterinary schools require the applicant to take the Graduate Record Exam.
