Why did you choose Black Hills State University?
When it came to choosing a college, I wanted to go and explore many school options yet stay moderately close to home. After touring the beautiful campus, I knew that Black Hills State University was the right place for me.

What is your major and why did you choose this specific major?
My major is Professional Accounting. Initially, I wanted to go into business, but with more class experience, I found that the accounting profession has great job outlooks and opportunities so I decided to pursue it. Though I will have a career that can, and may, be very challenging, it will offer me unlimited rewards in the future.

What has been your experience in you major?
In my four years at Black Hills State University, I have had a high-quality experience with the professors and classes. My professors have personally cared about my success, and are always willing to give me assistance when I ask.

What was your favorite business course at BHSU and why?
My favorite course at Black Hills State University was Business Law with Susan Dana. This class piqued my interest because I was able to learn about the justice system, its laws, and how they are applied studying real cases. Not only was it a very interesting class, but I feel it will help me in my accounting career.

What do you like most about BHSU and the School of Business?
One of the reasons I chose Black Hills State University was because it is a smaller university. The convenient campus made it easy to find my way around and meet people. I also love the smaller class sizes which allow me to receive individualized attention and to interact directly with Professors. It is awesome that the professors get to know me by name and actually get a chance to know me as a person.

In what way do you feel BHSU has best prepared you for your future career?
BHSU has given me the opportunity to take numerous courses which I feel have prepared me for real life situations, and have also enlightened me with knowledge that I can us later in life. For instance, this past semester I have been involved in the VITA tax program through the college. Through this program I was able to develop new skills by interacting with real people and gaining hands on experience preparing tax returns. It is experiences likes these, that I feel very fortunate to have been part of, all of which I feel are direct benefits of attending BHSU.

Where do you see your career in 10 years?
In ten years, I will be well into my successful accounting career as a partner at a public accounting firm.
