Get Involved on Campus life with Alpha Kappa Delta, Sociology Club, Internships, and Research

The Sociology program at BHSU provides a solid preparation in the discipline including grounding in theory, research methods, and critical thinking skills. Opportunities for undergraduate research highlight student achievements and abilities. Leadership opportunities are available in two organizations.  Internships to help gain knowledge of how Sociology is applied in the real world are encouraged.

  • Alpha Kappa Delta: The Gamma chapter of the International Sociology Honor Society, also referred to as AKD.  The purpose is to promote excellence in the study of sociology, research of social problems, and other social and intellectual activities that lead to improvement in the human condition.
  • Sociology and Human Services Club: Educates students about the social processes and offers professional development opportunities to students interested in Sociology and Human Resources.

Both AKD and Sociology club engage in a variety of volunteer and community service projects, support group discussions and speakers, and sponsors student travel to annual research conferences.
