Do I need a specific emphasis for a Psychology degree?
BHSU offers a general B.S. degree in Psychology. You are not required to choose a specific emphasis.

On average, how many students are enrolled as Psychology majors each year?
There are approximately 250 students that are enrolled as Psychology majors each year at BHSU.

How many credit hours of Psychology do I need for a degree at BH?
You will need 35 Psychology credit hours to graduate with a degree at BHSU.

What kinds of clubs or organizations are available specifically for Psychology majors?
Psychology Club and Psi Chi are Psychology specific clubs or organizations.
These organizations promote interest and education of the field of psychology. Both are a national honor society whose purpose is to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of members in all fields, particularly psychology and to advance the science of psychology.

How many Psychology professors are there at BHSU?
There are seven full-time faculty members in the Psychology Department: Dr. Jim Hess, Dr. Cheryl Anagnopoulos, Dr. Aris Karagiorgakis, Dr. Emilia Boeschen, Dr. Eric Clapham and Dr. Nathan Deichert. There are also three to six adjunct instructors.

How would I change my advisor to a Psychology professor?
First, talk to the Professor you would like for your advisor. Then after s/he agrees to advise you, talk to the secretary at the School of Education (Jonas 229) to make the change official.

What would be a complementary minor for a Psychology major?
That depends on your career interest. Biology, Sociology, and Business are some common minors for Psychology Majors. Talk to your advisor for help in deciding.

After I have taken General Psychology, what class should I take next?
Your next step would be to continue taking any Developmental Psychology classes. Your next class should be Psy 202 - The Psy Major.
