Private Pilot Ground School

Private Pilot Ground School is taught in cooperation between Black Hills State University and Wheels-Up Aviation.

This course is a non-credit Private Pilot course, taught by a Certified Flight Instructor (CFII) with Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI) rating.

Successful completion of course qualifies student to sit for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Private Pilot written examination; the first step to attain your license to fly.

Learn about aircraft instruments, engines and systems, airports, air traffic control and airspace, aerodynamics, aviation weather, navigation, modern avionics, FAA flight rules, aircraft performance and weight and balance, aeronautical decision making, cross country flight planning and aeromedical factors.

NOTE: Actual flight lessons are not included in this course, but can be arranged individually through Wheels-Up Aviation. BHSU provides Ground School only.
