Black Hills State University expanded the institutional general education graduation requirement to include additional experiential learning opportunities beyond undergraduate research or creative activity. Experiential learning is an understanding and disposition that a student builds across the curriculum, from making simple connections among ideas and experiences to synthesizing and transferring learning to new, complex situations for each major. Such upper division coursework meeting the Experiential Learning institutional graduation requirement include: undergraduate research, creative activity, internships, and study abroad.
