Twenty-two Black Hills State University photography students were chosen as finalists in the 31st Annual College Photographers Competition by Photographer’s Forum magazine. One student, Rebecca Gage, sophomore mass communication major from Sisseton, earned an honorable mention for her rodeo photo.

The Black Hills State University music department presents two spring choral concerts this week. The Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will perform Sunday, April 10 at 2:30 p.m. and the Women’s Chorus and Community Chorale will perform Tuesday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. Both performances will be held in the Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall.

Canon Explorer of Light and National Geographic photographer Sam Abell will be giving a free public lecture in the Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall at Black Hills State University Wednesday, April 20 at 7 p.m. A reception will be held in the lobby of Meier Hall before the event at 6:30 pm.

The Black Hills State University women’s rodeo team the captured the women’s team title with 455 points edging out a very competitive Dickinson State University team which earned 425 points during the Will Lantis Yellow Jacket Stampede past weekend at the Seven Down Arenas near Spearfish. Competitors from 12 different universities covering a five-state region known as the Great Plains Region roped, rode, and raced for team titles and their respective event championship titles.
